Sarah's diaper bag

As a baby gift for my friend Sarah, I offered to make her a new diaper bag. I went to consult with her on what she wanted (a long time ago) and I felt very professional because I went over with a stack of fabric samples and clipboard to jot down some ideas. Ha! Anyway, Sarah wanted something that was subtle that would go with just about anything and be appropriate for summer or winter. She decided on a monochromatic color scheme of grays, and I found a couple fabrics with gray prints for her to look at. Here's the finished bag.
The large outside pocket has velcro closure, and there are pockets on each end that go the width of the bag. One end has an extra, smaller pocket that will be great for small items.
A separating zipper allows the bag to open completely so you can find what you're looking for. Inside there are two large pockets on one side and three elastic topped pockets on the other.
I used some of the print she didn't choose to make her a little clutch. The idea came from Noodlehead's gathered clutch tutorial, but I modified it quite a bit. I made this clutch larger, and gathered it at the top rather than in the middle. There is a removable wrist strap and an interior zippered pocket. I used this pretty floral for the lining to add a pop of color.

  1. Very, very nice! (I especially love the color inside the clutch!)

  2. I love that diaper bag! Looks like the perfect size too! How long did it take you to make? Maybe you should go into custom diaper bag business?? Less liability for sure.

  3. Wow!! You never cease to amaze me!! :-) (I too like the colorful fabric inside the clutch!)

  4. The bag is great! I love all the pockets and how you can see everything inside the bag when it's unzipped. Thank you, Em!
