Preschool Art Day in May

I admit, I always enjoyed being the "helper" at preschool on days when there was something special going on, like the monthly art day.  Once a month, a woman from the Orange Art Center would come to preschool and lead the kids in a special project.

The day started out as usual, with some fun playtime.  I think Sierra is making a feast here.

Sierra, Emily, and Sophia have some less active play in the book nook.  We love our stories.  It's amusing when they are all "reading" aloud at the same time.

The three girls from above are joined by Cassidy and Tommy in the kitchen.  Looks like Tommy is on laundry duty.

Time for the art project.  Today, they were using a black background and brightly colored strips of paper to practice making a pattern.

Sierra is thinking about what she will create!

Ms. Wendy explains how you make patterns and gives and example to the preschoolers.

Sophia and Spencer working hard on their pattern projects.

Sierra gets a little assistance from Ms. Wendy and Tommy works on a more "abstract" concept pattern.

Art is done, so now, time to practice sommersaults on the carpet!  Wheee!

Another art project today!  Sophia and Sierra add the spots to their lady bugs.

And now, time for a story.  Hey look!  They are all mostly involved and paying attention!

Ms. Sabrina's class came over at the end of the day so that everyone could practice together for their preschool graduation performance.

Then it was a big, group lunch and play time before heading home.

We tried to get a photo of all the preschoolers together, but it proved to be a difficult undertaking.
