We originally planned to stay at my parents' house for 11 days, arriving late Tuesday in the week before my sister got married. When I realized that swimming lessons were happening during the time we were there, we left a couple days early so that Sierra could attend a full 2 week session of swimming lessons. She was bummed her buddy Colton wasn't in her class like last year, but she still had a great time.
Sierra had a break through this year in the swimming pool. All of a sudden, the first time we went swimming this summer, she was dunking her entire head under water, diving down, and swimming under water.
Swimming lessons began each day with a brief safety talk. Sierra seems slightly uninterested in this portion of the day.
Then they broke into groups with their teachers for the remainder of the 45 minutes. On the day I stayed to take some photos, Ms. Darcy first took her young swimmers in for a warm-up, getting used to the water and bobbing up and down a few times.
Then they practiced using lifejackets and talked about how to jump in with them, and how to float with a life jacket on.
Sierra had a great time. Though, from my perspective, she had a great time every day at swimming lessons.
She especially loves jumping in, with or without a life jacket!
Life jackets put away, the class finished with playing in the hoop, chasing dive toys, and practicing blowing bubbles.
